For whom?

Is it safe?

Yes! niostem is very safe.

Bioelectrical stimulation has been used in different applications since the 90s (neuromuscular, ophthalmological, nerve and other stimulation fields). To date no adverse effects have been reported.

Additionally, our device complies with European health, safety, and environmental protection standards (CE).

Are there side effects?

The niostem device was well tolerated during testing, with no serious side effects reported.

Minimal adverse effects included an itchy scalp (scalp pruritus; 9%) and slight headache in the first 2-4 days after the initial use (4.5%), which are also common with approved drugs and laser caps (Adil et al. 2017). All these effects disappeared after a week of use.

Do I have to use it every day?

Do I have to use it every day?
Yes, we recommend daily use of the niostem wearable. Our studies have shown that a 30-minute session per day delivers the best hair growth results. Missing a few sessions will not affect your progress.

We recommend using the device at least 6 out of 7 days per week to achieve optimal results.

How long until the first results?

Hair loss can be stopped within the first three months, and hair growth can be stimulated within the first six months. However, when you begin to see your first results depends on many different factors — such as the degree of hair loss, overall health, age, hair type, nutrition, or any existing conditions.

You can generally expect to see better regrowth and regeneration in bald areas where your hair follicles were previously miniaturized.

Wearable

Do I need to use it everyday?

The wearable should be used for as long as you want to keep your hair.

You can compare it to going to the gym — if you go regularly, you build muscle. But if you stop, the muscles gradually weaken again. However, skipping a day is not a big deal.

That’s why we recommend daily use. We will, however, continue to improve and test our product to potentially recommend other (lower) usage frequencies in the future, once results have been achieved and need only to be maintained.

Can I do more than 30 minutes a day?

niostem research has shown that sessions longer or more frequent than 30 minutes per day do not provide additional benefits.

niostem recommends using the niostem headset for only 30 minutes per day to achieve the best hair regrowth results.

For safety reasons, the app therefore limits the use of the device to 30 minutes per calendar day.

Can I use the wearable together with other treatments?

The wearable has no interactions with medications or other hair loss products.

In an internal study, our wearable proved to be more effective when used on its own. Therefore, combining it with other solutions may be unnecessary due to its mechanism of action through stem cell reactivation technology — it is not essential to block the effects of DHT or to increase blood flow to the hair follicle.

On the other hand, it is generally known in the hair loss market that combining different approaches can have additive effects.

So far, we have no data on combinations with the device.

We recommend discussing all prescription medications with a doctor to determine what is best for your individual situation.

Is there a warranty policy?

We offer a standard warranty for the niostem headset in accordance with EU regulations. The statutory warranty covers all hardware defects that are deemed to have existed at the time of delivery.

How does our 180-day performance guarantee work?

niostem guarantees visible results within 180 days with daily use (30 minutes per day). If no results are visible after this period—i.e., hair loss has not been stopped and/or no visible hair growth has been detected in the comparison photos—we will refund the purchase price.

To do so, users must:

  • take “before” photos (5 angles) in the niostem app during the first week,
  • use the device regularly on at least 153 out of 180 days,
  • take new photos in the app every month under the same conditions, and
  • send all photos and usage data to [email protected] after 180 days.

The guarantee is only valid for the first 180 consecutive days from the delivery date (in accordance with the hardware guarantee) and only once per device and user.

Research

How does it work?

The niostem wearable uses gentle electrical stimulation through our unique portable device to convert dormant hair stem cells back into progenitor cells that energize the hair follicles and promote hair growth.

Our intelligent system ensures that an invisible network spreads across the top of the scalp — the area generally affected by hair loss.

How many years of development are behind it?

We have been developing our product for 9 years — 5 years dedicated to fundamental stem cell research and 4 years to the development and design of the device.

What makes niostem different?

The technology behind niostem focuses on reactivating dormant hair stem cells, directly targeting the root cause of baldness.

Instead of using light, our technology physically stimulates the stem cells through a gentle mechanical process.

This approach activates the hair stem cells to revert to their progenitor state, effectively boosting the regrowth process at the cellular level — leading to thicker and fuller hair. No drugs. No serious side effects.

What is the cause of male baldness?

Normally, we all lose about 100 hairs per day — this is part of the natural hair regeneration process. A byproduct of testosterone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT) causes your hair follicles to shrink over time, leading to hair loss.

Results

What can I expect?

Based on the results of the niostem pilot study, hair loss stopped in 95.4% of participants after 3 months. Among them, 86.3% experienced regrowth and an increase in hair shaft density (an average increase of 12% compared to baseline).

This means that most people can expect their hair loss to stop within the first 12 weeks, noticing fewer hairs on pillows, blankets, sinks, etc.

After 12 to 24 weeks, most users begin to see the first visible signs of regrowth — with improvements in both hair density and hair thickness.

After 24 weeks: hair loss was stopped in 100% of participants, and 100% experienced regrowth. Hair shaft density increased by an average of 19.3%, and hair thickness increased by 8.8%.

Where is the clinical study published?

The clinical study was published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology (Wiley), a renowned peer-reviewed scientific journal.

The publication presents the full efficacy and safety data of the niostem device, showing significant increases in hair density and thickness after six months of use, with no reported side effects. niostem Study. Jellard, Moore & Chacón-Martínez et al. 2025

How long should I use niostem once I’ve achieved my hair growth goals?

As long as you want to keep your hair healthy, the wearable should be used daily, since the main cause of hair loss — DHT — continues to be present in the body.

We recommend daily use, but we are continuously testing and improving our product with the goal of reducing the frequency of use once our customers have reached their hair growth goals. This should work similarly to a dental retainer that keeps teeth aligned after a standard orthodontic treatment.

Does it only work where the electrodes are located?

No, by using 11 interconnected electrodes, we create an invisible network across the scalp, evenly treating the DHT-sensitive areas on the top of the head.
